The Venue

A tiny Tuscan village, built with patience and sacrifice, hundreds of years ago, where every architectural detail has been meticulously restored like a Renaissance painting which has come to life, is Il Borro, a unique place that we have fallen in love with.  Owned by the Ferragamo family (think shoes) since 1993, the estate has a thousand year history, and has been the property of influential Tuscan families, including Pazzi, Medici Tornaquinci and Savoia for generations.  Excellence in wine production, luxury accommodation, art and design encompass the estate.

The property is conveniently located from the main destinations in central Italy; Rome, Florence, Siena, San Gimigiano and Arezzo all within just a couple hours drive or less.  Il Borro is situated in one of the most history-rich areas if Italy, near the ancient route of Via Clodia, which was one of the main roads of the Etruscan-Roman period.  Hundreds of years ago, Il Borro’s castle stood virtually in the center of medieval Tuscany.  An area rich in art and culture, the estate boasts the location of the famous Buriano bridge, dating back to ancient Roman times and famously capturing the attention of Leonardo Da Vinci, who used it as the background for his painting the “Mona Lisa”.

The Il Borro estate (1800 acres of which 100 is vineyards) consists of a main villa that will house our wedding party and provide a fabulous setting to host our wedding reception and after party.  The Medieval Village with uniquely restored houses, church, small shops and town square (where we will all gather for the rehearsal dinner on Saturday evening) offer a historic and unique place for everyone to stay and assemble for great times.  In addition to the houses in the village that offer a uniquely Tuscan experience, there is also a collection of meticulously restored and appointed farmhouses on the property with private pools where we will be directing larger groups of guests to reside for the weekend.
